At SRSIS the nature of education is beyond the class–room teaching. Every student is regarded as an individual with varied talent and a need to promote the genius, artist and sportsman in him/her. At SRSIS, every student who aspires to be a professional competitor or performer is given appropriate support.

No Bag Day

It is a concept of having a day, once every month, wherein, students develop their life-skills. The students get to learn from workshops, drills and presentations like on First-Aid, Disaster management, Traffic Rules, to name a few of the things. It would also include a cooking session from chef or ways to improve one’s Hygiene. They would also be given lessons from Magician or Dramatist. Later in the day they would find their expressions in doing Graffiti or Theatre or Talent hunt. It is a concept where learning is fun and its utility is life-long.

Recreational Hour

Every morning starts with a regime to bring recreation and tranquility to all. The day starts with a session of Yoga/Meditation/Prayers/Warm-up. It is done to have a great start-up for an amazing day.

Houses

The school has 4 Houses- Asia, Africa, America & Europe. We, at SRSIS, believe that being involved in a community is a great way to stay active, gain new skills and interact with persons of different groups. The Houses meet once in a fortnight. There are inter and intra houses activities and competitions. In fact, the houses do wonderful work when it comes to voluntary services like collecting warm clothes for slums, bringing toys and books to the orphans and carrying out Swachh Bharat Campaign at a local market. Each house has its mentors who encourage students to do better and how.

Clubs

Friday mornings are dedicated to clubs. These are based on student’s preferences. There is Taste Buds, Kala Kendra, Prayas, Robosaurs, Prakrati. Reuters, Heritage, I Read I Lead, Pranayam. All these clubs have Mentors who help children learn and skill development is the outcome. The students enjoy and learn the skills of their interests. Every few weeks, the skills learnt are showcased. SRSIS wants its students to be global citizens with panache.

Visits And Excursions

SRS believes that school educational trips are among the most prominent of the formative years, largely because they are a welcome break in the routine for both learners and educators. While their purpose is to educate, they can also be a fun bonding experience for everyone involved. They help in reinforcement about what a teacher has taught. Taking the students into new environment gives of travelling in a group and teaches them to be respectful of the locations they visit. These trips turn into classrooms, instructing students to collect date, then quizzing them or assigning a project based on what they have learnt during the trip. We, at SRS, include small trips like a visit to a bank to a trip to Rail Museum or a day trip in the NCR to overnight excursions and camps. It helps them create memories which children retain for longer periods.

Reading

Books can never be replaced. So @ SRSIS, from class Nursery to IX, the love – for - reading is encouraged, both for the sheer joy of it and because it is the most useful of all tools with the student. Every Kindergarten class room has a reading corner. Students from other classes are also encouraged to read in the Library – Media – Centre, which not only features books but also quiet story-telling corners.

Know Your World

We believe ‘Sky is the limit’. Thus it becomes imperative that students expand their horizons. KNOW YOUR WORLD is concept where students are given exposure to the Brands in the market, Capital and Currencies, the Current affairs and other such information which helps them relate to this ever growing global scenario.
